About True North Budgeting
True North Budgeting was created to bring clarity back to personal finance - without noise, pressure, or compromise.
Why We Built This
Like many people, we spent years trying to make existing budgeting tools work for us. They were either overly complex, aggressively “smart,” or built around subscriptions, data collection, and constant nudges.
We wanted something simpler - a tool that respected privacy, worked offline, and helped us understand our money without telling us how to live. When we couldn’t find it, we decided to build it ourselves.
A Note from the Founders
True North Budgeting was built by two brothers who were tired of fighting their own financial tools.
What started as shared frustration turned into long conversations, experiments, and a commitment to build something better - not bigger. We didn’t want another platform. We wanted a dependable tool.
We believe the best software stays out of your way, respects your boundaries, and gives you confidence instead of anxiety. That belief continues to shape everything we build.
Our Philosophy
- Privacy first. Your financial data stays on your device.
- Offline by design. No forced accounts, syncing, or tracking.
- Clarity over complexity. Tools should explain, not overwhelm.
- No hidden incentives. No ads, no data resale.
What We Are - And Aren’t
True North Budgeting is a privacy-first budgeting tool designed to help you build a calmer, more intentional relationship with your money.
We’re not a bank, and we don’t sell financial products. We don’t publish paid recommendations.
Monetization: We don’t use affiliate links, sponsored placements, or paid referrals - and we don’t expect to.
Our Commitment
- Transparency: We explain how the product works and how we handle support clearly.
- Security: We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect our systems.
- Compliance-minded: We aim to respect applicable consumer protection and privacy expectations as we grow.
